A Perfect Date Night at Universal Studios: Tips and Recommendations

Planning a date night at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida? Look no further! In this blog post, we will share our personal experiences and provide you with tips and recommendations to make the most of your visit. From skipping the kiddie rides to enjoying delicious food and thrilling roller coasters, we've got you covered. Let's dive in!

Choosing the Right Time to Go

Consider the time of year and special events when planning your visit. We went during Mardi Gras, which offered unique food vendors, music, and a carnival-inspired parade. Halloween Horror Nights is another popular event for fright enthusiasts, but note that it's not suitable for children under 13. Avoiding school holidays can help minimise crowds, but as your children grow older, it can become more challenging.

Deciding on the Duration

The number of days you should spend at Universal Studios depends on your preferences and the size of your party. If you love roller coasters or have teenagers, you can easily spend three days or more exploring the park. Islands of Adventure has attractions like the Jurassic Park area, which offers an enjoyable experience. However, if your party is averse to roller coasters or screen-based simulators, two days might be sufficient.

Utilising Express Passes

Consider getting Express Passes to skip the lines and make the most of your time. Express Pass is Universal Orlando's version of FastPass, and it can be purchased separately or included with your stay at an eligible Universal Orlando hotel. Sometimes, if a ride breaks down or you experience delays, Universal may provide passes to ride the attraction again or use on a different ride. These passes allowed us to enjoy the park longer and spend less time in lines.

Choosing Where to Stay

There are various hotels near Universal Studios to choose from. During our visit, we stayed at The Cabana Bay Beach Resort, which offered a 50s vintage "Meet the Robinsons" vibe. We recommend booking a room with a view of Volcano Bay. Research different hotels to find the one that suits your style and preferences.

Exploring the Rides and Attractions

Start your day by visiting Diagon Alley in Universal Studios, as it tends to get busier as the day progresses. If you're a Harry Potter fan, this is a must-see. Afterwards, get in line for Escape from Gringotts Bank, a popular attraction in Diagon Alley. In Islands of Adventure, don't miss Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, a thrilling roller coaster in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Dining Recommendations

Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure offer a variety of dining options. Visit Diagon Alley's Leaky Cauldron or Hogsmeade's Three Broomsticks for an immersive dining experience. Mythos, a table service restaurant, offers great value. Don't forget to try the iconic Butterbeer! Grab quick bites like churros throughout the park and consider purchasing a refillable Coke Freestyle mug for convenience and cold water.

Tips for a Smooth Experience

Arrive early in the morning to beat the crowds and start your day at Universal Studios. Plan your next ride or attraction while waiting in line to maximise your time. Understand that it might not be possible to experience every ride or show in a single day, so prioritise the ones that interest you the most. Skip the kiddie rides and focus on the bigger attractions for a thrilling experience.

A date night at Universal Studios in Orlando can be a fantastic and memorable experience. By considering the timing of your visit, using Express Passes, and strategically planning your rides
